Joseph Altuzarra's collection drew inspiration from " Boro the 

Japanese folk fabric. Literally translated means scraps of ragged 

cloth, which have been patched and repaired out of necessity

 often by poor farm workers in the dimness of the night light.

Paul and Joe was founded by Sophie Albou in the early nineties. The label started out as a menswear collection, and in 1995 the womenswear label was added.  Incidentally, Sophie's early career was   a "sales assistant" for Azzedine Alaia in Paris......
