THE NEW SEASON EDIT......

A/W 14

10
TRENDS

Onto the new.......

It's somehow liberating to embrace the new season,
and this autumn and winter offers so much to explore. From 'huggy bear' fur's and need it 'NOW' knitwear, to fairy tale dressing and 'east bloc' reigns (Think Marlene Dietrich circa 1930's.)
The possibility of reinvention thrills, but also horror beckons,
when everything you own, just doesn't seem quite right anymore?

So, in the next few weeks NET-A-DRESSER will translate the runway inspired trends,  pointing you in the right direction to the best pieces on the high street this season.

1 EASTERN BLOC.

Prada: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Christopher Kane: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

This is the new power dressing now.

Dangerous seduction and a "don't mess with me" attitude......

(Get noticed in the boardroom or bedroom this season!)

SWEATER DRESSING

The Row: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Monster knits feature heavily this season.....Just think how much you can save on the heating bills?

Chunky knits will work with just about everything in your wardrobe, from pencil skirts to mannish tailoring.

3  UNLEASH THE ANIMAL

Celine: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Vanessa Bruno: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Leopard, snakeskin and a plethora of animal prints take a big centre stage this Autumn Winter......

 Subtlety doesn't feature.

Just clash your animal prints in a more is more kind of way.

4 A SIXTIES MOMENT

Valentino: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

DSquared2: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

As always every new season we look forward as well as back.
And catching the eye once again, the most popular decade of all time....... Those swinging sixties.

5 FAIRY TALE'S

Dolce & Gabbana: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Alberta Ferretti: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Become a 'cape' crusader..... Little Red Riding Hood has never looked so tempting.

Shakespeare's mischievous sprite Puck, comes to mind in Alberta Ferretti's feather dresses.

6 FLUFF & FUR.

Gucci: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Paul & Joe: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Touchy feely fun fur. This season there is no shortage of the fluffy stuff.......Take inspiration from the 70's with Starsky and Hutch, and 'Huggy Bear' styling.

Too young to remember? Then look them up.

Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear.

7 GREY MATTER.

Michael Kors: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Derek Lam: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

'Shades of grey'......From dove to charcoal, marl's and metallics,
grey is your new go to neutral this season.

NORMCORE
AKA.....'PERFECTLY BORING'

Jil Sander: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Image's via

Hermes: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

'Normcore?'.......They are calling this a trend, well maybe?

For me this is perfect 'under the radar' investment dressing.
Not necessarily recognisable by it's season or by the designer.
Just beautifully cut wearable pieces, that effortlessly work in any wardrobe.

Whatever it's 'moniker', it's got my name written all over it..... except for the price tag!

WINTER BOHO

Burberry Prorsum: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Image's via

Emilio Pucci: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Boho does winter.
Floaty dresses have a new take this season, just throw on some fur, or a blanket wrap, and you are winter ready.

Don't be afraid to do a mash-up of your prints and textures.......

10 METALLICA

Isabel Marant: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Image's via

Saint Laurent: Autumn/Winter 2014-2015

Jewels, sequins, embellishment, and shine.......Sparkle by day or night, the Isabel Marant and Saint Laurent way.

Next time........

Like all things fashion, the catwalk does take it to the extreme, but once it hits the high street it filters down to something more wearable.......I hope! p.s. sorry to make you choke!! Helen xx
