The sales are a great time to make smart investments in your wardrobe. Follow this 8-step guide to keep you on track.
NET-A-DRESSER'S 8-STEP GUIDE
1. It's a battleground out there, so wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are easily removable (essential when trying on those 70% off Louboutin's!)
2. Stay hydrated, sounds silly, but if you are dehydrated your ability to make rational decisions becomes impaired. Also have a few snacks to hand, a banana, some nuts or cheesy oatcakes will help bridge the gap until you can eat properly.
3. Be armed with a list, and do your research into the coming season, but, only buy if it's really 'YOU'. If you wouldn't normally wear crochet flares, or towering disco platforms.....Don't even go there.
4. As simple as it sounds, look at where the gaps are in your wardrobe, only buy what you really NEED, and stick rigidly to it.
5. Now is the time to invest in those forever designer pieces. Buy the best you can afford, and it will stand you in good stead for a long time.
6. If it doesn't fit don't buy it just because it's a bargain. It will end up at the back of the wardrobe, and eventually go to the charity shop!

7. SHOP ONLINE........PUTTING ITEMS INTO YOUR BASKET GIVES YOU TIME TO REALLY CONSIDER IF YOU NEED IT, BEFORE HITTING THE 'PURCHASE NOW' BUTTON?
8. And finally those few impulse sale bargains can add up to one much needed new season item. Always try and weigh up which you want more.

Love your sale picks. I really do need to make a list when they come around as I just go for what I like and see! The J Crew sweater is lovely. Jane x
ReplyDeleteSome sound bargain-hunting advice Helen! It's good to have a plan! I think sales shopping is easier online these days as you, I can't bear trawling through heaps of jumble-sale style piles! Mind you there is nothing quite unearthing an utter gem hidden at the bottom of a sale stack! Fab picks here.....off to do a little online sales shopping! ;0) xx
ReplyDeleteOh that eye shadow palette - I really shouldn't have read this post! x
ReplyDeleteExcellent advice and some gorgeous picks as well.. I've been really restrained and really good in the sales this year - I got a knitted coat in Zara which was love at first sight (cannot wait til Autumn to wear it) and also a dress! I honestly cannot remember the last time I wore a dress, but this is a pretty classic tunic style from Cos which again will work in the A/W Now tempted by that J Crew cashmere sweater :(
ReplyDeleteAmaying post dear!

You are so right about shopping the sales! Those $5 and $10 items add up especially if you really don't need it. I change the way I shop this time of year and look ahead to fall while still shopping sales, great picks and advice :)
